A sorority sister from Theta Phi Alpha, the Cortland College sorority mentioned in Imaginary Brightness, came and brought me a wonderful framed print of Camp Pine Knot (see below). She was graciously giving 15 or so books to her fellow sisters. I signed them all. And then there was a woman who lives in my town and worked at the Camp Sagamore for years as a college student. She asked me to speak at her book club. Of course!
It seemed, as I was signing books for people, that everyone had some connection with the Adirondacks. "I would camp there every year with my family." ; "My neighbors have a family camp on Raquette, please sign his name......"; "This one goes to the .... family for their camp on Saranac Lake." And so it went.
There is a special something about the Adirondacks for people that have ever visited. It's a place you don't forget because it conjures up peaceful memories. I can't wait for my upcoming signings in the region. Although I'm not participating in the Ironman in Lake Placid, I will be there that weekend to sign books!
