Now that I am nearing the end of my writing journey (at least for this first book) like the title, I had to come up with a good book summary. In my first attempt the summary was all about William. He was after all the whole reason I started on the story. But as time went by and, well maybe it is because of the holiday interactions with my own family, I realized that this is truly a family saga. And the story focuses on the relationship between a brother and sister. It is about their birthright and a tyrannical father they can't escape.
Their relationship starts off loving but ends up strained because of the family dynamics and the social conventions of the time. As they come of age in London and then are forced to return to America, both brother and sister rebel against their father and these conventions. But the pursuit of their own destinies independent of their father's grip hold, ultimately upsets the delicate familial balance they had maintained in their youth.
It took me awhile to come up with this summary. I read the backs of every book in the house. After a night of tossing and turning I ended up changing my original. Finally though, I am at a point where everything is gelling. I just have to get through this last bit of editing before I completely burn out on the storyline. As it is I have no energy left to try to find an agent much less a publisher. I have put everything into the writing.
