Katie and Tom, Brad and Angelina, Ben and Jennifer, we don’t really know the truth behind their divorces. But if you think it’s the public right to know, as some defenders of the First Amendment believe, you might take heart in the recent Minnesota court case allowing The Star Tribune to access the musical artist, Prince’s sealed divorce files from the 1990s over the protestations of his ex-wife. The reasoning? The presiding judge could find no reason not to, and stated that “access to civil court documents is fundamental to a democratic state”.
